Sara Fran
Interdisciplinary writer, comedian, artist-about-town
Hi, I’m Sara. Glad to have you here!
I write and perform standup and character sketches.
I also write satire, fiction, and the odd poem (a strange poem written occasionally).
At heart, I’m a storyteller. At brain, I’m halfway down a rabbit hole, chasing an idea or character. At knee, I’m always wanting to dance. (Unless I’m sleepy. I adore the idea of sleep.)
My humor writing has appeared in magazines like McSweeney’s,Slackjaw, Points in Case, and others. From 2022-2023, I was a Fellow at The Center for Fiction / Susan Kamil Emerging Writer Fellowship in Brooklyn, NY, focusing on tragicomic autofiction and mythological satire.
I studied comedy writing and performance at Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), Second City, and Brooklyn Comedy Collective, including intensives in improv, sketch, character, and clown.
I’ve performed standup and character sets at independent venues like Caveat and Eris in New York City. I’ve also performed music, sound, comic lit, and character bits at independent galleries, bookstores, and comedy theaters, including Pianofight in San Francisco (RIP).
I’m bringing my debut standup hour, Time Snatch, to Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer, 2026.
Let’s collab!
I’m open to writing, standup, satire reading, and character acting opportunities.
I’m also offering one-on-one virtual feedback and coaching sessions for people seeking to improve their writing or performance work.

More about me
(if you really wanna know, or whatever…)
I’m interested in shining a light on the unseen and throwing obstacles in the oppressor’s way. This does not prevent me from tripping over myself in the dark.
I love old trees, and slow reading, and fast drums. I love talking to no one before 5pm — not a word — and then rejoining society with zest. I have ADHD, so I subsist on spontaneous walks, side-quests, and novelty. Naturally, I love a character. I have chronic migraines and endometriosis and turn into The Grinch during a flare-up. (I also subsist on spoons and energy work.)
TL;DR: I’m playful and curious and furious and cynical and tired and hopeful and trying anyway. Love and hijinks are everywhere.
I live in beautiful Brooklyn, New York with my #1 bud, Punky (he’s a cat).
Work with me!
Think I’m a good fit for a writing, standup, or acting, or gig? Send a request! I also make a great host, but who’s asking (unless…you?)
I also offer writing feedback sessions, comedy coaching, and editorial reviews.
My approach to coaching and editing
I’m here to guide you clearly and meaningfully toward your point, your plot, or your punchline. I can help you fine-tune your language, uncover your style, and sharpen your voice.
My approach is flexible and tailored to you. Need a riffing partner? Great. Need to process your insecurities and locate the spark in your work? I’m listening! Just want a line editor? Cool. Unsure what you need? Let’s figure it out together!
My goal is to leave you feeling a strong sense of ownership and pride in your work.
I welcome pieces across comedy and literary genres and formats, including satire / humor pieces, standup or character bits, one-person shows, sketches, short stories, poems (my first love), and personal essays.
I can also help you with op-eds, research papers, or essays called things like, “Layers: The Psychosexual Currency of The Soviet Platitude.” Literary / arts criticism and sociopolitical theory are both in my wheelhouse. #multitudes
I will NOT review your sponsored post on HERBALIFE or your doTERRA (TM) white paper.
Sessions are paid. For rates, send a project request!
